These books give an intriguing story in the history. The book revolves around the period of Napoleonic war. It’s a story set in the British Navy and it’s all about Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin. The two are friends whereby Jack is a captain while Stephen is a physician (and intelligent agent).   The Mauritius Command is one of the best books in the series. Almost the entire book takes place at sea. A few of the earlier book got bogged down whenever the lead character, naval officer Jack Aubrey, steps onto land, but at soon as he takes to sea the books take on a whole new life.5/5(5).

The Patrick O'Brian Mapping Project is created by Tom Horn. During the series of novels, Jack Aubrey commands a large number of vessels. Most of them are ships of the Royal Navy, prefixed HMS. On one occasion he commands an Honourable East India Company Ship, and for some time Surprise is a hired vessel working for the Royal Navy (HMHV).
